Jules Verne's manuscripts aboard the ATV!!!
What a more beautiful tribute we could return to Jules Verne ! While it should take off next January since the base of Kourou, the ATV is going to take in its edge some of its manuscripts which will be deposited in the International Space station ( ISS). There will be an astronomical chart drawn by Jules Verne, as well as a note of the hand. This one notably clarifies that, "on foot, one would need that 8 years and 282 days to join the Moon, that an express circulating in 60 km per hour would put 9 months, whereas at the speed of light, 1 second a quarter would be enough" (NB: THE ATV will put as for him about 2 weeks to join the ISS). Will also be a part of this extraordinary journey, a beautiful illustrated editioN of " De la terre à la lune" and of " Voyage autour de la lune ", as well as the reproduction of a dedication of the " Journey in the center of the earth" dated 1881 : " Forward! It has to be the slogan of the humanity " (This reproduction is supplied by Mr. Piero Gondola della Riva).
The idea of this beautiful tribute to Jules Verne, who had imagined the man in the space from the XIXth century and who made dream about adventures and about extreme journeys about so many readers' generations, came from the French astronaut of the ESA, Jean-François Clervoy, and one of the people in charge of the project ATV, Robert Laine. That they are congratulated and thanked for it here publicly on behalf of all the verniens of the small world sublunaire!
